Hersey and Blanchard (1991) - Leaderships styles

 

The Hersey-Blanchard Situational Leadership Model rests on two fundamental concepts; leadership style and the individual or group's maturity level.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The result I received was my leadership style was “Participating” – “Leaders focused more on the relationship and less on direction. The leader works with the team, and shares decision – making responsibilities.” When matching the leadership style along with the maturity level the result is “M3 – Medium maturity, higher skills but lacking confidence".

 

Again the characteristic’s mentioned are very similar to the way I ‘am and the way my work ethic is. However the statement ‘Leaders focused more on the relationship and less on direction’ I feel as even though relationships are important direction is very key and without a sense of direction I feel as though I would be lost.
